Douglas Alexander, a former top British Labour politician who served in leadership roles in the U.K. government between 2001 and 2015, including as Minister of State for Europe, Secretary of State of International Development and Shadow Foreign Secretary, talks about “Brexit: What Lies Ahead for Britain and Europe?”
The Rt. Hon. Douglas Alexander is a former top British Labour politician who currently serves as Senior Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and as a visiting professor at King’s College, London. He is a member of the UK Privy Council and a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations. From 2001 to 2015 he served in leadership roles in the U.K. government, including as Minister of State for Europe; Minister of State for Trade, Investment and Foreign Affairs; Secretary of State of International Development; and Shadow Foreign Secretary. Alexander also served as Labour Party leader Ed Miliband’s election strategist in last year’s general election in Britain. In November 2015, Alexander accepted a role with U2 frontman Bono as a senior advisor on how best to secure investment to tackle global poverty, particularly in Africa.
